Nick Young, formerly a managing director at Goldman Sachs’ New York markets strategy group, has joined Balyasny Asset Management as head of macro technology. The firm also hired Mike Grimaldi, former head of technology at JPMorgan’s corporate and investment bank. Mike Grimaldi has recruited senior staff from Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan. Nick Young previously worked at Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan.

Mike Grimaldi, head of technology at JPMorgan’s corporate and investment banking, has joined Balyasny Asset Management. He has brought senior technology staff from Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan. Nick Young, a managing director in Goldman’s New York markets strats group, joins Balyasny Asset Management as head of macro technology.

In addition to his role as head of the firm’s asset management unit, Nick will also oversee the creation of a fund called the Balyasny Invest Fund. He will oversee the management of a portfolio comprised of more than $1 billion in assets. Nick joined Balyasny Asset Management in June and will be based in the firm’s San Francisco office.

Balyasny Asset Management has hired several new people to its staff, including Mike Grimaldi, a former head of technology for JPMorgan’s corporate and investment bank. Grimaldi and Young spent five years at the financial firm, and they also poached some SAC and Citadel people. Now they plan to hire investment managers and other staff members.

The company applied for 141 H1B visas from fiscal year 2019 to 2020, and it may have actually hired only a few of them. It also filed a Labor Condition Application for a green card, which requires that employers prove the salaries of positions in their geographic area. Balyasny Asset Management, L.P. has a total of 141 foreign workers on its payroll.
